Description

The Paris Museum of Fine Arts, also known as Petit Palais, features one of the largest collections of Byzantine icons in France, donated by the industrialist and collector Roger Cabal (1927-1997).

MUEVO undertook the complete reconstruction of the room that houses the Byzantine icons dating after the fall of the Byzantine Empire.

We created display cases with magnetic suspensions for the icons and reproduced the effects of the wood surface and texture, without using organic materials for the purposes of maintenance. We developed an easy and safe way to open the display case, with access to humidity and lighting control. Thus, we created a safe and airtight environment for the exhibits.

We redesigned the color and lighting conditions of the space, to create an atmosphere of devotion and highlight the differences of the room from the whole museum.
