Decorative Arts in Meiji and Heiji
Museum of Modern Greek Culture
Athens, Greece 2019
2019 marks 120 years of Greek-Japanese relations. One of the central celebrations of this important anniversary for the two states is the exhibition “Decorative Arts in Meiji and Heiji: Crafting Beauty and Technique across 150 Years”, presented at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture in collaboration with the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo.
The exhibition brings the Greek public closer to Japanese culture and presents a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the decorative arts of Japan from 1868 to the present day.
Muevo undertook the construction of display cases of different categories and openings intended to house ceramics, lacquer boxes, metal objects and fabrics, either elaborately decorated or simple. Our aim was to bring out the details of the elaborate artifacts and the aesthetics of the display cases to be in line with Japanese culture.
