MUEVO’s Note on Sustainability

MUEVO’s Note on Sustainability

At MUEVO, environmental responsibility is a major part of our company’s philosophy.

In light of the ongoing climate crisis that is threatening our planet and cultural goods, we always attempt to achieve optimal results through the employment of environmentally responsible methods that reflect our commitment to sustainability.

For us, the notion of sustainability is understood on three distinct levels and expressed in multiple aspects of our business activity, as detailed below.

Tailored Solutions & Thoughtful Craftsmanship

The first level concerns our unique value proposition and the nature of our end-products per se. As a bespoke exhibition solutions manufacturer, we ensure that there is a place for everything we produce, thus avoiding excess production. Moreover, all elements are designed and built according to the specific needs of each exhibition space with absolute care, so that they benefit from an extended life-span, reducing the need for renewals.

Upcycling Culture

Although we do not maintain a standard product stock, we promote a circular economy by donating any surplus museographic equipment (i.e. from temporary exhibitions, or samples and prototypes, etc) on an annual basis. That way, we extend the lifecycle of all our exhibition constructions while also supporting smaller institutions with limited resources. In our line of work, upcycling also connects to the ordinary sense of waste reduction, through the reuse of packaging materials and the recycling of scrap materials at our production unit.

In-House Production:

Maintaining our production in-house allows us to achieve maximum adaption over the quality standards, as well as the technical and environmental requirements of each project. Our internal production unit serves as the second level of our sustainability awareness and is of utmost importance for supporting our relevant practices. To name one example, producing the majority of our exhibition solutions and construction elements in-house reduces the need for shipping between suppliers of different distances, thus lowering carbon emissions and lead times.

Cutting-edge Technology

All eight departments of our manufacturing facility are equipped with cutting-edge industrial equipment. For our production, we rely on efficient technologies that optimize our product delivery processes, and support sustainable manufacturing practices. Features include the collection of material residues available for reuse, on-site renewable energy use and optimization of non-renewable energy consumption, among others.

Engineering efficiency & Construction Durability

Engineering efficiency – the core of our design philosophy, is key to the longevity of our constructions. From the early stage of systems conceptualization, we take all necessary provisions, selecting the primest materials and keeping our constructions simple, efficient and easy-to-use for the end-users, so as to ensure that our end-products endure a prolonged lifetime.

Preventive Conservation Function

Exhibit preservation is perhaps the most important aspect in our conception of sustainability and is achieved through the preventive conservation function of our casework. From the use of chemically stable materials and neutral paints tested for the non-emission of harmful substances to the control of the exhibition zone’s relative humidity and micro-environment in general, our engineering and construction methodology entails environmentally optimal practices that can extend the lifespan of an artefact.

From engineering to installation, we strive for the ethical and sustainable development of display solutions that also serve as a medium of preventive conservation for your artefacts and collections.

We view sustainability as a continuous chain of value creation. Environmentally responsible manufacturing practices contribute to the development of durable and efficient exhibition constructions, while long-lasting display solutions provide the stable conditions required for the preservation of cultural heritage. By extending the lifespan of both our products and the artefacts they protect, we reduce resource consumption and environmental impact, while simultaneously strengthening the long-term resilience of our business. In this way, environmental sustainability, construction durability and preventive conservation operate as interconnected pillars of our philosophy and practice.
