Decorative Arts Of The Meiji And Heiji Periods Exhibition

Museum of Modern Greek Culture, Athens

The year 2019 marked 120 years of Greek-Japanese relations. One of the central celebrations of this important anniversary for the two states was the exhibition “Decorative Arts in Meiji and Heiji: Crafting Beauty and Technique across 150 Years”.

The exposition was presented at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture and was organised in collaboration with the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo. It brought the Greek public closer to Japanese culture, presenting a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the decorative arts in Japan from 1868 to date.

In this context, MUEVO undertook the construction of thirty free-standing display cases intended to house ceramics, lacquer boxes, metal objects, fabrics, and other materials that were brought together for the event.

Our aim was to bring out the details of the exhibits, while matching the appearance of our showcases with the aesthetics of the Japanese artefacts.

Completion Date: 2018
